SMTC Weekly Report 16/2/18
By Andrew Coates, Town Clerk, Feb 16 2018 02:16PM
Items of importance dealt with week commencing 12th February 2018
Car Parking Fines
Further to the spate of car parking fines being dished out at the last Flea Market on Sunday there was a meeting yesterday with the car parks manager and the Leader of NDC to see if there was a way forward on this. It was agreed that the signage is not clear in that people believe that, since all our car parks are free on a Sunday, then it is ok to park any vehicle in the lorry park. Part of Southley Road is going to be re-surfaced in the next couple of months and whilst they are doing that they will be signing the entrance to the lorry park on the tarmac itself. There was also discussion as to whether the lorry park gets split into two and the Amory Centre car park used for a two coach marked area. Before the Autumn the Council will have a meeting with NDC to suggest changes to the parking areas which can then be incorporated into their parking orders.
Nat West Mobile Banking Van
I am still in contact with Nat West with regard the mobile banking van and having spoken to members of the public who are concerned about the lack of banking in South Molton. They are very pleased that there will be an alternative albeit on a smaller scale. I will notify Councillors and the public when I have set times and exact location for the van.
Rural Services Network
I attach an email we have had from the Rural Services Network asking for a volunteer Councillor to represent South Molton. Please let me know if anyone is interested.
State Pension Age
A letter was sent to Councillor Worden by a local resident regarding lack of notification of the changes to the State Pension Age for 1950’s women. There is a petition going to Parliament regarding this so if anyone is interested please let me know.
No forthcoming Meetings.
