Items of importance dealt with week commencing 6th November 2017
Councillor Advocate Scheme
I mentioned a few weeks ago about the Councillor Advocate Scheme which was talked about by the Police and Crime Commissioner at the DALC Annual General Meeting. I have been supplied with details of the scheme and the main points are as follows: The Police and Crime Commissioner is looking for one nominated person within each Council to act as a link between the Council, Office of PCC and the local police team. The benefits will be:
1. Direct access to the local police team.
2. Briefings from the OPCC and a regular newsletter which the nominated person can contribute to.
3. Become a Crimestoppers Ambassador so that community crime can be reported anonymously.
4. Support for crime prevention projects in the area.
5. Give the community a voice within the OPCC to help influence policing.
I will be asking for a nominated Councillor at the next Full Council meeting.
Xmas Light Switch On
The Christmas light switch on takes place next Friday and the actual count down will be at 6.15pm. Our guest Gordon Sparks will be attending at that time and he will then be switching the lights on with the Deputy Mayor. The posters around town do state that David Fitzgerald will be doing the switch on but I have only just been informed that he was unable to do it and the brochures had already been printed. I have done another poster featuring Gordon Sparks.
South West Water
I have received a response from SWW after the letter I sent a few weeks ago. If there are any comments that should be addressed to SWW please let me know and I will direct the questions to them.
